In her work, Nika Kupyrova appropriates found text, concepts and pop culture phenomena to direct her own working process. The resulting self-reflective multi-layered sculptures propose a bridge between textual and visual languages and investigate gestures of three-dimensionality, reproduction as well as the notion of the original. Pia Bauernberger’s design for Nika is a two-layered coat. It consists of a very light black viscose layer, and a natural- coloured sleeveless linen coat on top. Nika can wear it together or separately for work, at gallery openings and in spare time. Not having to change clothes between work related and private events is a very important aspect for Nika.
